CASE STUDY · JEWELRY
A gold savings app for a jewelry group's two brands
We built iOS and Android gold savings apps, plus a staff portal for each brand, for two brands of a jewelry retail group in Malaysia. Each brand has its own deployment and database, from one codebase.
- CLIENT
- a jewelry retail group in Malaysia, two of its brands
- BUILT
- customer apps for iOS and Android, plus a staff portal for each brand
- LIVE
- August and September 2026, then handed over to the client
- MOVED OVER
- 1,200+ customers and 11,000+ payments from the old records

The plan it runs
Customers commit to a fixed amount each month. Each payment buys 22K gold at that day's rate, and the grams are recorded. After 12 payments the plan matures, a 13th-month bonus is added, and the customer collects their gold in store.

Before
Customers paid at the counter, and the records lived in spreadsheets.
What we built
- Pay from the phone through FPX, Malaysia's online bank payment system. Each payment shows the grams of gold it bought.
- Buy gold by the gram outside the plan, at the day's rate.
- National-ID identity checks, and login codes sent by WhatsApp.
- Collect in store: the customer picks how much gold to collect, shows staff a one-time code, and a manager approves.
- Referral points and payment reminders.
- A staff portal for customers, payments, collections and the end-of-day cash report.

Decisions worth copying
- 01
One codebase, a separate deployment and database for each brand.
- 02
Each plan keeps the rules it was created with, so changing the defaults later never rewrites an existing customer's plan.
- 03
The client owns everything. The managing director owns every account, with a written handover covering accounts, environments, backups and open items.

The gold savings app demo film and screens (demo brand, demo data).
